KRA Consulting Engineers was founded in 1974. The existing Directors, Michael Dear and Les Cranston, joined the practice in 1976 and 1979 respectively and became Partners in 1983. We have significantly increased our client base and continue to recruit further staff to add to our expertise. The majority of our Clients are the result of recommendations and we have several that have retained our services for over 20 years. KRA Consulting Engineers became a Limited company in 2001.
KRA is a compact, well-resourced and efficient practice and has been involved in many large projects over the past twenty years. Our structural design is orientated towards architectural solutions. We always consider different options to obtain the best architectural detail and economic design taking into account input from all the design team. Our team consists of dedicated professionals who are particularly enthusiastic about concise engineering solutions, and who thrive on working to pressured deadlines and on challenging projects. This methodology is very successful and during the last few years we have undertaken several large design projects with a total value in excess of £25m.
Structural Engineering forms the major part of the practice. We provide state of the art, practical and economic solutions in concrete, steel, masonry and timber. Over recent years we have provided a comprehensive structural consultancy service on large commercial and retail developments throughout Southern England. The majority of the projects are based around a JCT "Design & Build" contract with a novation agreement to the main contractor, although we do carry out work under the more conventional JCT "With Quantities", and standard "Design & Build" procurement routes. This enables our Engineers to adapt to working both directly for the Client and for the Contractor, which maintains their cost and quality awareness.
