The objective of this course is to provide participants with the necessary preliminary information on how to use the New Engineering Contract on a project. It also seeks to illustrate a completely different approach to the contractual aspects of construction.

Introduction to ECC Background, philosophy, underlying principles, objectives, conflict.
Contract Strategy Division of risks, primary and secondary options, allocating design tasks, professional services contract, subcontracting.
Pre-Contract Management Tender documentation, contract data, works and site information.
Time and Quality The programme, possession, early warning, takeover, delays, testing, searching, notifying, correcting and accepting defects.
Compensation in Action Concepts of compensation events, schedule of cost components, reasons for compensation, quotations, implementing compensation events.
Payment and Valuation Activity schedules, assessing amount due, payment of the contractor, duties for certification.
Adjudication and Termination Appointment, dispute notification, procedures, arbitration or tribunal, procedures for termination.
