OBJECTIVE
The objective of this course, undertaken in partnership with the HSE, is to provide delegates with a basic awareness and understanding of asbestos issues and to then apply this knowledge to undertake risk assessments and formulate management information to aid compliance with the recently implemented Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-Domestic Premises (Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2004). The course incorporates lectures, video and workshop elements.

At the end of the course participants will be able to:
·Understand basic asbestos facts including occurrence, uses and dangers of asbestos containing materials.
·Understand why and when asbestos containing materials become hazardous to health.
·Understand the basic legal requirements in relation to asbestos and how they relate to Regulation 4.
·Understand the steps required for compliance with the new Regulations.

Potential ‘Duty Holders’ and professional individuals employed in all areas of industry who may require an awareness and understanding of asbestos issues and in particular those who have or may have responsibilities under Regulation 4 of CAWR.
