There are various types of pavement design, dependent upon location; Motorway, Trunk road or local highway authority network. The Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) dictates how the majority of UK highways are designed. The use of these documents are mandatory for operations on Motorways and Trunk Roads. Many Local Authorities use the DMRB to govern work on their highways, however as changes in legislation and austerity measures are altering how local authorities review and change their techniques for road maintenance, this course will:
