Microplot Ltd has been operating in the IT, software development, and civil engineering industries since 1981.
We work alongside the engineers and staff of our sister company, Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd; a successful UK civil engineering consultancy. This close interaction provides us in-depth knowledge of engineering processes, the way engineers think about design, and the way engineers like to interact with software. This day-to-day feedback from on-site users, makes our software very user-friendly and highly capable.
Our Site3D project was initiated in 2003 because existing commercial 3D design software was very difficult to use, required huge amounts of training, was very slow in operation, required dedicated staff just to operate it, and ultimately produced mediocre results. We knew it was possible to make something better.
Building on knowledge from many years of CAD experience, but with the benefit of starting from scratch with modern programming techniques, we set about producing a system that operated the way the engineers at Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd actually wanted.
Site3D has been in useful operation within Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd almost right from the outset, exceeding the abilities and project throughput achievable with the other commercially available products.
In 2014 it was decided that the benefits should be made available for usage outside of Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd, and we subsequently started to offer Site3D for commercial usage worldwide.
Microplot has developed many systems for internal usage within Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd to aid efficiency and streamline procedures. As well as Computer Aided Design (CAD) related systems, we have also developed TimeBytes, a project management system, which records employees' project related activities, and provides users with constant up-to-date project information, as well as a complete archive of everything the company has done.
In addition to software for internal usage, the team at Microplot produced WinTopo, a highly successful raster to vector conversion application, used by millions of people worldwide.
